Hawaiian Culture

If you've ever had the chance to visit Hawaii, you know that it is much more than just an island with a lot of tourists and beaches. Hawaiian culture is steeped in ancient tradition, pride, and the aloha spirit.

There are those things you hear about most often that are integral to culture of Hawaii. Such as the pineapple plants, the surfing, the luau's, and the hula dancing. But there are just as many things you might not be aware of. For example, did you know one of Hawaii's most famous surfers back in the day, Eddie Aikau, who saved many lives during his stint as a beach lifeguard, disappeared without a trace after being part of an expeditionary crew whose raft was torn apart in a storm? He swam to get help for the other members and was never seen from or heard of again. His search & rescue operation was one of the U.S.'s largest.

Hawaiian culture is as old as it is diverse. Before becoming part of the U.S. there was royalty on the islands. Yet, after the second world war, a popular staple (spam),

is now an integral part of their cuisine. Hawaii embraces the old and the new seamlessly offering their "aloha spirit" wherever they go. So why not go vacation there and experience it for yourself? I promise, you won't be disappointed.
