Couture on a Budget

When traveling, you want to look your best, right? You want to look like a million dollars on your once-in-a-lifetime trip to Paris as you pose beneath the Eiffel Tower. There are those blogs that make it seem so simple, but in truth, it can be anything but that.

There are so many things to think about when packing for a trip. Is it going to rain, or be hot, or humid. Will you be outside all day or inside? Can you pack enough for the length of your trip or will you need to mix and match outfits? The list goes on and on.

Luckily, the fashionistas have found a few tricks to help the rest of us out.

Like, if you’re traveling for a longer period (say 7+ days) there are many ways to mix and match your already well used wardrobe. Take this picture for example,

There are only 18 pieces in this picture, and yet you can create upwards of 8 outfits. Apart from the shoes, this wouldn't even take very much room in your suitcase. However, if that is something that contributes to the reason you feel you can't do couture on a budget, see our previous post on packing {here}.

And, when in doubt, do a little shopping! Now, you don’t have to go overboard, but stores like Ross and TJ Maxx offer great seasonal items when you’ll be going on your trips. Most shirts are even around $10 to $15 dollars and if you search long enough you'll find tons of couture worthy items.

In fact, I just found this at T.J. Maxx a few days ago!

{Can you tell T.J. Maxx is one of my favorite stores? ;)}

Even if you have a mostly complete travel outfit set, you can piece the last few things together with a quick trip to the store. P.S. If you've never explored Polyvore, you'll be amazed!
